A recognized leader in energy, climate, and technology, Robert helped architect today’s carbon and emissions markets. He co-authored the first financial accounting standards for valuing nature, authored the rulebook that evolved into Scope 1–3 emissions, and drafted the original guidelines for integrating emissions trading into accounting—work that shaped the 1997 Kyoto Protocol. Most recently, he advised the COP28 president on strategic narrative during the landmark agreement to transition away from fossil fuels.
